vertical non light – a playful shift in Perception at raisin the bar

As part of my Touch It With Your Mind series, I installed vertical non light at raisin the bar, a natural wine and champagne bar in Rotterdam. For this piece, I painted lines directly onto the stairs, following the architecture and bringing out its movement. The contrast between the painted lines and the actual steps creates a strange, almost disorienting moment that makes you look twice.

The lines don’t just change how the stairs appear—they also highlight their rhythm and structure, turning something familiar into a new visual experience. It was great to see people pause, adjust, and interact with the space in unexpected ways, showing how easily our minds can be tricked by what we see.
